Using Social Media for Recruiting
Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 1:54PM Social media recruiting is one of the most relevant and timely topics among hiring organizations today. We're at the Direct Employers Association (www.jobcentral.com) conference where we're presenting on college and intern recruiting. Shama Kabani, President of The Zen Marketing Group (www.zenmarketing.com) , shared some very insightful information on using social media in recruiting. Among the key takeaways - "people are now the media". In building a strategy, remember the 3 key goals are to: 1) Find candidates 2) Build relationships with potential candidates AND current employees 3) Build your company brand for when candidates search for you. According to Kabani, the 5 key steps to social recruiting include: 1) Start with your internal website - it must be strong and up-to-date 2) Don't dismiss Google - you need to understand your organization's presence there 3) Create "strategic outposts" (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) 4) Monitor and listen 5) Leverage each person and each strategy as needed.
